Although he was raised in Jersey, Jo’urneyy moved back to New York for High School. Upon going back to his birthplace, the music producer made himself known first in his small community, creating impact from one track to the next.
The road to his success was very humble. Jo’urneyy started recording his music in his parents’ basement using his phone. As he was only starting out then, he couldn’t afford a proper studio. But that didn’t stop him from producing quality tunes. After realizing that he truly has the potential and the passion for music, Jo’urneyy begged his parents to get him a decent microphone, and truly it did him wonders.
However, after high school, he found himself depressed as his friends were leaving off to college. But instead of focusing on the negatives, he poured all his attention and energy into his music. This brought soul and substance into his work even more. His small circle of the audience began to like what he was producing and soon it gained him more attention. Then he managed to stir up his little area completely which he likes to call “845 upstate NY.”
Fueled by his passion and talent, Jo’urneyy knew that he could be better with a little more resources. And so he moved out from his parents’ house in New York and lived with his aunt in Virginia. He worked in a warehouse, where he was paid well, and saved all his earnings to get better equipment and produce in a studio.
Slowly, through hard work and patience, Jo’urneyy was able to produce “The Plot,” a composition where he let off steam as he felt like there were people at his job who were plotting against him. This gave him a big break, garnering over 2 million listeners on SoundCloud.
His debut track “Winning'' also found its way to the hearts of many. He collaborated with his close friend Rayality, an up-and-coming artist from Sicklerville, New Jersey, to produce the track. Rayality also has a highly anticipated project that is coming out soon.
For Jo’urneyy, the reason why his tracks are relatable is that he speaks from his own experiences. “Winning” is a testimony that everybody has a shot in life, regardless of where you’re from or your conditions growing up.
“Black Lives Matter” is a movement that currently stirs up our society. As an active member of the black community, Jo’urneyy finds a need to address the issue through his music. He is currently composing a track powerful enough to challenge laws and get people to sympathize with black people. When finished, a portion of the revenue from the downloads will go to the BLM movement.
Jo’urneyy believes that change starts with action. To him, hip-hop music is more than just upbeat tracks. They are meaningful compositions that connect with people on a mental and emotional level, and indeed they do. Hip-hop music is his way of being heard by the rest of the world and he is encouraging those who share the same passion as he does to make their voices reach their communities as well.
