People go through days in their lives without giving much thought about them. In retrospect, people wish they had done something more to cherish the moments that have gone by. And one way of preserving a moment is through photography.
At this time, one can easily take a picture using a smartphone. But photography is much more than taking photos out of a device that enables you to do so. Photography is an art. And just like any form of art, photography requires quite some time to really understand it and to produce quality results.
Sean Stanley is a photographer from the L.A. and Ventura Counties. Back in 2015, Sean’s undaunted spirit led him to travel around the world with professional surfers. Spending time with these travel companions of his was what piqued his interest in the world of surfing. There was just something about the way the surfers kept their balance despite the tremendous waves that hit them, and how they were able to ride through the current with so much grace. Sean found it absolutely beautiful that the surfers just let themselves crash fearlessly into the raging waters. This made Sean realize that life is a lot like surfing - keeping your balance and letting go.
The early years of Sean’s professional career focused heavily on surfing and the laidback lifestyle that went with it. He succeeded in capturing the true essence of the sport by truly immersing himself with the professional surfers. Fast forward to 2020, and Sean has now shifted his focus more on taking photographs of people and specializing in portrait style photography.
Even at an early stage in his career, Sean has already been around professional athletes, music stars and other celebrities in Hollywood. He has photographed the likes of Floyd Mayweather, Tommy Chong, Risk Rock, Dilated Peoples, Everlast, Danny Fuller, Mad Child, and many more well-renowned people. This kind of exposure has given Sean the confidence to connect with more and more people on a deeper level. But as much as he takes pride in working with famous people, Sean says that some of his most stunning shots are from those ordinary people doing ordinary things. This is why he offers his services to people from all walks of life regardless of who they are, what they do, how they look, and where they are from. Remarkably enough, Sean can create something magical out of the mundane.
Sean has always had a knack for telling stories. Through his lenses, he sees things in a different light. Capturing what catches his eye, he then shows just how easy it is to overlook the beauty of something. Indeed, the beauty of a moment is how fleeting it can be. Through photography, Sean is able to preserve the ephemeral. But Sean’s fascination for storytelling does not end in his photography. He is now working on a book - the details of which are to be announced in the coming months. Know more about Sean and keep up with his works by visiting his website and Instagram page.
