Are you starting college soon? Are you worried about what to pack for college? Are you afraid to live in the dormitories with strangers, or an apartment with new roommates?
Don’t worry because we’ve got you covered! Continue reading to learn what you need to start college successfully and without worry!
There’s no sugar coating it — dorm beds can be gross. You’ll want to have a mattress cover (ideally, one that keeps out bedbugs), a pillow top layer, sheets, pillows, pillowcases and the like. Make sure you have what you need to be comfortable and careful in the dorms!
If you’re living in an apartment, like in a college station students apartment, you’ll also need to make sure that your apartment has the furnishings you need. You don’t want to move into an apartment and discover you’re missing a bed, after all!
College may be a good time, but you need to be prepared to STAY in college. Make sure you have a working computer and back up adapters, and a plan should the worst happen.
You’ll need plenty of notebooks, highlighters, pens, and other school supplies (and make sure you get all your textbooks!).
If you’ve got room in your budget, a printer and printer paper will be very handy for all the papers you’ll need to write and will save you from having to wait in line at the library.
If you’re in a specialty program, double-check to make sure you don’t need special equipment (like a graphing calculator).
You may not think so, but you NEED shower shoes and a shower caddy. Dorm bathrooms can be filled with fungus and bacteria — you don’t know where your dorm mates have been, after all!
And, make sure you have plenty of shower supplies, like shampoo and conditioner, just in case something gets left behind. You’ll also want to have a bathrobe and towels, so you don’t have to air dry or bring all your clothing with you to the bathroom!
Many people attend college far from their homes. If you’re from California, you might not know just how cold it gets during the long Boston winters.
The reverse is true as well — you won’t need a parka in Nevada, and you’ll want more of a raincoat if you’re heading to Washington or Oregon.
You need to do your research and make sure you have what you need to stay warm (or cool) all school year long.
And, while we’re at it, you should make sure you have plenty of underwear, tights, socks, and other basics — more than you think you’ll need. Trust us; you need to get extra when it comes to essentials.
These are just some of the basics you’ll need when you’re wondering what to pack for college.
Most importantly, don’t be too nervous — everyone else is in the same boat as you, and you’ll all be able to help each other out if you turn out to be missing something!
